Tell us what you know about your situation
You can ask about collecting family registers (koseki), identifying heirs, preparing an estate division agreement, inheritance procedures for bank accounts or vehicles, and preparing a will. If you have not decided which service you need, describe the issue you would like help with.
You do not need to collect every document before contacting us. A brief outline is enough to start: your relationship to the people involved, what you would like to discuss, and any deadlines that concern you.
Please tell us your preferred language. We will confirm whether we can assist in that language. The availability of information in English does not guarantee that a consultation or the requested work can be conducted in English.
Before sending an enquiry
Your initial consultation is free for up to 30 minutes. We listen to your circumstances and concerns, then explain whether we can assist, the next steps, the procedures that may be needed, and an overview of the fees. Document preparation, research, applications, notifications and other work are charged separately. You are under no obligation to engage us after the consultation. Before a consultation, please confirm the method and appointment arrangements. Sending the form does not by itself mean that we have accepted an engagement or completed a procedure.
If a deadline for renouncing an inheritance, filing a return or another procedure is approaching, promptly check with the responsible professional or public authority. Contacting our office does not extend a deadline or complete an official application. If there is a dispute or negotiation between heirs, consider consulting an attorney (bengoshi) first.
Using the existing Japanese enquiry form
The inheritance website’s existing enquiry form is in Japanese. Check its required and optional field labels, then enter your contact details and a brief description of the matter.
State your preferred language in your message. We will confirm the available arrangements. Do not assume that an English-speaking appointment has been arranged by submitting the form.

After you send the form
Check the result displayed after your submission. If an error appears, review your entries and the instructions. If you are unsure whether the message was sent, check the situation before submitting the same information repeatedly.
If you cannot find a reply, check the email address you entered, your spam folder and your email reception settings. If you need to check whether your enquiry has reached the office, contact us on 0493-59-9578. Telephone language availability needs to be confirmed.
After contact, the next steps are to clarify your situation, discuss consultation arrangements, and confirm the scope of work and estimate.
What information and documents to provide
For your first enquiry, provide only the outline needed to explain the matter. Do not include your My Number (individual identification number), bank PINs, passport number or residence card number.
We will discuss whether documents such as family registers, identity documents or bank passbooks are needed and how they should be provided. Keep information about family members brief at this stage and share only what you know is relevant.
Questions about contacting us
I am not sure how to explain what I need.
Start with what prompted your enquiry: for example, you were asked to obtain family registers, a bank requested inheritance procedures, or you are thinking about making a will. We can then identify what needs to be checked.
Can I decide whether to engage you after checking the fees?
Consider the engagement after confirming the scope and estimate. In addition to professional fees, check expenses, any further work and the fees of other professionals.
How can I discuss a matter from a distant location?
In your message, tell us where you live and whether you would prefer an office visit, a visit to your location, postal correspondence or an online meeting. We will confirm which methods are available for your matter and circumstances.
